A little bit about me...

Living in England's magnificent Lake District, it really isn't difficult to find inspiration from the landscape and the nature within it, to create beautiful pieces of art for you to enjoy.

I tend not to paint real scenes however. The Lake District has been, as still is, painted by countless artists over time, so I prefer to have the freedom to create my own compositions, capturing the essence of the lake District and the wildlife within it. I love to focus on things like light, colour, the weather and skies to create the mood and atmosphere of any given time of year. Light and colour is a bit more challenging when creating a single colour linoprint of course, but it's still possible to embrace the atmosphere, so your mind can conjure up the colours and lighting effects within the scene.

I basically work in lino print, watercolour/gouache & ink (or pen) and acrylic, but I do occasionally like to have a dabble in other things too!

I've drawn and painted for as long as I care to remember, but I successfully completed a formal art course in 2010, a pre-degree diploma in Art, Design and Media. I didn't go on to university from there, deciding instead to set myself up as "Marty's Artworks" in 2011.
